Meet The Maker

Kym MilneBird in Hand - Chief Winemaker
Winestate magazine has named Bird in Hand's Chief Winemaker Kym Milne Australian Winemaker of the Year two years in a row. Kim brings over 30 years + of winemaking talent and countless prestigious awards.

Why Kym loves this wine.

"Crushed into small open fermenting tanks then matured for 18 months in the finest French oak, this extremely limited wine will cellar exceptionally well and reward the patient and discerning collector."

About this wine

The wine has a deep red colour and intense aromas of violets, cassis, and aniseed. The palate is an intense expression of the aromas, enhanced with silky tannins and a deliciously long, persistent finish.

Reviews

Campbell MattinsonHalliday Wine Companion

"Ample tannin, substance and length but cohesion is not a strong point. Acidity dangles like a loose shirttail and tannin doesn't feel entirely at one with the fruit. Don't get the wrong impression; there's a lot to appreciate here. 93 points silver "

Huon Hooke The Real Review - Australian Wine Critic

"The palate elegant and medium-weight, with fine but positive tannins. Fine and long palate. An elegant cabernet blend which is far from simplistic. 93/100 Drinking/cellaring time 2019 to 2034"
